Derelict Fashion Editorial

Some locations have a character all of their own, and this derelict RAF base certainly delivered that in abundance.

Photographed by the talented Sophie Ellen, this was another creative fashion shoot that saw me taking on hair, makeup, and styling, helping to shape the visual direction.

I've always been fascinated by abandoned spaces. There is something incredibly beautiful about the textures, history, and atmosphere they hold. Whilst nature slowly reclaims them and time leaves its mark, they develop a unique character that simply can't be recreated in a studio environment.

For this shoot, the contrast between fashion and decay was exactly what drew me in. Elegant styling placed against weathered concrete, peeling paint, and vast industrial spaces creates a visual tension that I find endlessly interesting.

The hair and makeup were designed to complement the setting rather than compete with it. Every creative decision was made to ensure the model felt connected to the environment whilst still maintaining a strong fashion-focused aesthetic.

One of the things I enjoy most about working on editorial shoots is the freedom to experiment. Whether creating bridal hair, fashion styling, or commercial campaigns, every project tells a different story. This particular story happened to unfold amongst the ruins of a former RAF base, and I couldn't have imagined a more fitting backdrop, a great find by Sophie!
