Short Film Hair and Makeup Norfolk - Boy
Another wonderful Norfolk film project, Boy was written and directed by Ginte Regina and filmed across a variety of beautiful outdoor locations throughout the county.
Storyline: Lina is Elena's best friend, but now she is pregnant with Tomas' baby and Elena fears being abandoned. The trio of Lithuanian immigrants set out on one last, illegal fishing trip before the arrival of the child, where Elena tries to save her friendship in the face of change.
One of the things I love most about working within film and television is the sheer variety of environments each project brings. One week I might be working in a studio, the next on a windswept beach, and this production certainly kept everyone outdoors making the most of some absolutely incredible Norfolk weather.
Working on location requires adaptability. Hair and makeup artists quickly become problem solvers, weather forecasters, continuity supervisors, and occasionally providers of emergency supplies. On this shoot, sunscreen and prescription-strength hay fever tablets became two of the most valuable tools in the kit bag!
The entire cast and crew created a warm and supportive atmosphere, making long days outdoors both enjoyable and rewarding. Projects like this remind me that hair and makeup is about far more than brushes and products; it's about supporting storytelling and helping performers feel fully immersed in their characters.
